And Then I Got Sick

So, I got home from SPACE, and I felt it starting.  I don't think I caught a bug at the show.  I think it's just my body can't handle all of this insane weather anymore, and it's giving up on me.  Of course, none of this stopped me from working in the Mill all last week, but I haven't had the mojo to be TORC Press last week.  I thought I was coming out of it back on Thursday, then my left eye swelled shut on Saturday, and now here on Sunday both eyes are trying to swell shut.

Long story short, if I'm lucky, I'll come out of this soon.  Until then, TORC Press is out of commission until I feel better.  I apologize in advance to anyone reading the webcomics.

Hopefully I'll feel better in time for Free Comic Day at Comic Quest this weekend.

New SDF before Bed

Oof.  Still tired from the road/convention/sawmill, but I've got a new page of SDF up and running.  Check it out at http://www.torcpress.com/sdf2-3.html.  That is all.

I go bed now.

Splashdown After SPACE

I am home from SPACE safe and sound.  I am tired, confused (stupid fire drill...), and I've lived all day on junk food.  Still, feeling pretty up.  I would like to take a second to thank everyone that came out and supported TORC Press at the show, I hope you enjoy the comix.  For the none of you out there that are following SDF online, Monday's webcomic will probably be put up for viewing late Monday evening.

Me go sleep now.

Rocketing off to SPACE

Huh.  They've changed the set-up here on Blogspot, so let's see if this thing actually publishes...

Anyway, I'm getting ready to go to the Small Press Alternative Comics Expo, or SPACE.  Should be a good show.  I know a fair amount of the people there, and hopefully I'll be able to move a few books.  Speaking of which, I'll have copies of the Print Edition of SDF at the show, as well as a new comic that I may not even have available for online sale for a few months.

After the show, my primary concern will be updating the main page of my website.  It needs a little extra zaz.  Also, Page Three of SDF 2 may be a little slow coming out on Monday, since I won't be getting home from Ohio until late Sunday night.

Anyway, anyway, if you want any details on SPACE, check em out at http://www.backporchcomics.com/space.htm.

Later.

SDF Melee

Alrighty. Issue 2, Page 2 of "SDF" is up for viewing at http://www.torcpress.com/sdf2-2.html. It continues the wild brawl between members of the Watch and the horrible three headed monster. There's not enough horrible three headed monsters nowadays. It's unfortunate.

New DirtTown

A new page of Pulp Horrorshow: DirtTown is up for viewing at http://www.torcpress.com/ph1-4.html. It's all about the ugly, poorly drawn vio-lence. Also, some new characters get introduced, which is always nice.

We'll be at SPACE this weekend. Can't wait.

FULL TILT!

We're going Full Tilt right now, baby! First off, SDF has started back up. The first page of Issue 2, featuring The Watch fighting a Giant Monster can be viewed at http://www.torcpress.com/sdf2-1.html. There will be a new page of Pulp Horrorshow on Wednesday, and a new page of SDF on Thursday.

Also, SPACE, one of my favorite shows of the year, is this weekend. Details at http://www.backporchcomics.com/space.htm.

We are desperately working to finish Issue 1 of "Clown & Penguin", our grand new series, before the show. It's gonna be close, but I think I can make it work. It might be a little confusing, because the book is set one year after the events in "Cosmic Love" #5, which I haven't published yet. Just bear with me, it'll all almost sorta make sense eventually.

Also, also, also I should have the Print Edition of SDF #1 available for sale online by the end of the week, and copies for sale at SPACE. I hope.

So, yeah, I got promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep.

Ugly Comix and Loud Music

Page Three of Pulp Horrorshow: DirtTown is up for viewing at http://www.torcpress.com/ph1-3.html. It features more Uglyart and the brief introduction of a rather unfortunate anti-Ortex rebel group.

In addition, the Dr. Orphyus Project will be performing LIVE this Friday night, April 13 at 7pm at Friends & Co. in Charleston, IL. Be there or be a four sided geometrical shaped where all of the sides are the same length.

DirtTown, DOP, and SPACE

Alrighty. First off, we've got a new page of "Pulp Horrorshow: DirtTown" up for viewing at http://www.torcpress.com/ph1-2.html. This week's page is all about the joys of oppressive factory work. Huzzah!

Secondly, the Dr. Orphyus Project will be performing LIVE this Friday, April 13 at Friends & Co. in Charleston, IL at 7pm. The show will feature two songs from the Doctor's most recent album, "Death Jazz", one of which, "Zach", features a new Animated Video by lil' ole me. If you're in the area (ha-ha) come check it out.

Thirdly, my most favorite show of the year, SPACE is April 21-22. I'll be there both days shilling my wares and whatnot. I should have "SDF #1" ready to go by the show, and hopefully another book besides. I'll also be field testing a new plan involving sketches. Maybe.

Pulp Horrorshow: DirtTown Page 1 Now Available for Viewing

Right-o. If you head to www.torcpress.com you will see a new Link on the Page entitled "Pulp Horrorshow". That's our brand new, ugly-ugly webcomic. You can also head to http://www.torcpress.com/ph1-1.html to view page one directly.

I don't wanna talk this one to death, but I do wanna yammer about the basics a little. First off, a little about the Uglyart. "Pulp Horrorshow: DirtTown" was drawn freehand, with no prior penciling, using a cheap ball point pen on cheap Xerox paper. I did this both to hopefully create the feel of the world I'm trying to create, and also as something of a challenge to my own skills as an artist.

Secondly, the idea for the story came to me when I realized that when I was creating this whole tapestry involving the War with Ortex, I hadn't really bothered to show what life was like for those being openly Oppressed by Ortex. With "The Watch" story over in "SDF" (which, again you can check out at http://www.torcpress.com/sdfweb.html) I was telling the story of the refugees who were fleeing from or hiding from Ortex's Control. "DirtTown" on the other hand, is about those poor slobs living in the grimy cities toiling away under the authoritarian yoke of that ever present Ortex "Diamond" Brand. Whereas I took a very straightforward approach with SDF, Pulp Horrorshow is going to be very dark and very, very weird. Should be fun.

Also, you might notice the Weather Forecast at the bottom of the page. These forecasts were created using my home built Doppler radar machinery, and as such they are very accurate. You can plan your entire week around a single forecast. Yep.

Page Two will go live on Monday, April 9th.

SDF #1 Wraps Up and Whatnot

The first online issue of "SDF" has wrapped up with Page 16 over at http://www.torcpress.com/sdf16.html. with that completed, I'm currently working on finishing up the exclusive back up strip that will be running in the back of the Print Edition of SDF. Yep, it's a rare example of me trying to use a little business sense, but the actual comic version of SDF will not only contain the 16 Page "Watch" strip that was online, but also a brand new, exclusive 8 Page strip. Anyway, I'll talk more about that when the Print Edition is ready to go.

SDF #2 begins on April 16th. In the meantime, starting Thursday, April 5th, and running in the usual SDF time slot (Mondays and Thursdays) will be a new webcomic, entitled "Pulp Horrorshow: DirtTown". It will be an Ugly, Experimental, Ugly comic that I'll talk more about on Thursday.
