The new issue of Skull Mob was supposed to start today, but instead I am going to spend the rest of this week getting used to my new website and try to figure out how to operate it properly. Because I am braindead when it comes to techno-stuff, this may take awhile, but I'm gonna give it the old college try.
Of course, I quit college after a year...

Alright, the biggest thing worth mentioning today is that the main site has recently underwent some changes. Fellow comic book publisher and friend of TORC Press, David Branstetter, recently performed the Herculean task of overhauling the website. The only downside is that I'm stil not entirely sure how to properly operate it. So the main site is gonna be a little touchy for a few days. In the meantime, the Blogspot, Tumblr, and Deviant Art are all gonna update as normal. Bear with me as I try to bumble my way through the digital realm.

SDF 7-16 (SDF on Break)

That wraps up Issue 7 of SDF. SDF will now go on break for a little bit while I get ready for something... big. The strip will return, because I am nowhere near done with the adventures of Octopus Jones.
On an unrelated note, this has been a hard, vicious winter. There's no such thing as a good or easy winter, but this one has been the absolute worst. It's really humbled me (as if I wasn't humble enough), but I'm hoping that I'm maybe starting to adapt to this insanity. We'll see. It's warm in my house right now and since I'm not freezing to death it's a little easier to be optimistic. If this next week is as harsh as predicted, I may find myself eating those words. Anyway, if some of the strips are late for the next month or two, I apologize. I'm giving it all I got, but that ain't a lot right now.
Also, no Pulp Horrorshow tomorrow. We'll pick that dropped ball up later.

Of all the Four Horesmen of Nothingness, Despair would be the most dangerous for me to face. Depression and Self Doubt are something we all face from time to time, but I always feel I'm quite vulnerable to them. My self esteem is more often than not a delicate high wire act, and even something as simple as the medication I was taking to clear up my lungs can cause me to plummet into darkness. Of course, I am speaking metaphorically. It's not like some pink skinned alien chick shows up and stabs me with her hair.
Although in my dream last night I had to repeatedly cut myself to end some sort of feud with Leonardo DiCaprio. For some reason Leo was talking smack about my Dad, and I beat him up, and then cut myself to make amends. Frickin' dreams are weird.

Welp, I'm back from my self imposed exile. I'd like to say something like, I feel refreshed and ready to go again, but I don't. But it's time to get back to work. I was away from the drawing board for too long, and I think it's made me cranky. Well, that and the medication I'm on to fix my lungs. Anyway, we'll have new HFSAC tomorrow for the approximately 8 people that read this blog. Cheers!

SDF 7-12 (TORC Press Is On Break)

So, I'm gonna go ahead and take this next week off. There's a lot of factors that have contributed to my decision to be lazy. Here's the list:
1) Back in November, my house sprung a water leak, which took a solid week to fix, which ate my comics-making time. This ate up my reserve of pages, and I've never got caught up.
2) The Christmas season didn't really give me a chance to catch up. It was fun, but I was busy.
3) I don't wanna say I'm sick right now. But I am pretty messed up. The cold does terrible things to my lungs, and turns out a guy has to breath if he wants to do... anything. Also, my house can't keep up with the extreme cold here lately, and I have trouble concentrating (aka drawing) when I'm cold.
4) Mei and I are celebrating our one year anniversary in Bloomington, IL this weekend, which is about three hours north of me. It's awesome that I've been in an amazing relationship with a wonderful woman for a full year. What's not awesome is that it's supposed to snow like a mofo this weekend. So there is a very real possibility that I will be snowed in and trapped away from home from now till... who knows. (And anyone in the audience who even suggests I just stay home this weekend... just don't. Nothing short of the end of the world will stop me from being with my gal this weekend)
Anyway, with this veritable barrage of things working against me, I've decided my best bet is to just give myself a week off to get caught back up. I don't feel good about it, but even I have to be realistic every now and then. TORC Press will pick back up on 1/12/14.
